That's Dave (#31) talking to his daughter, Heather, in the starting gate at the 2016 Vet World Championships at Glen Helen Raceway in California. Picture was published in the February 2017 issue of Motocross Action magazine. A larger version of the picture is included below.

Dave finished 10th in the first race of the 60+ Class at the Vet MX Championships at Glen Helen Raceway in early November. He followed that finish with a 13th in the second race for an 11th place overall. Congratulations, Dave, on an awesome performance!

Dave also conducted a suspension set-up seminar for students right after lunch. Dave and his team are experts at setting up a rider's suspension for his or her weight and skill level. Racers of all skill levels including pros use Tech-Care Racing Suspension set ups.

Honda has introduced the latest version of race-winning  CRF450R and introduced the new CRF450RX, an off-road oriented race bike based on the R model. Both are all new for 2017 with features designed to push each to the front of the pack.
∙ The new Unicam engine with a straight downdraft air intake produces increased power and torque across the rev range.
∙ Due to customer feedback, the SFF (Separate Functioning Forks) have been replaced by coil spring Showa 49 mm A-Kit forks with a less complicated adjuster on the top of the tubes. No air! (While Dave really liked the SFF set-up and thought they made for a better handling motocrosser, he thinks the new spring A-Kit forks are going to work better for a lot of riders.)
∙ A lighter swingarm assembly and aluminum chassis lowers the center of gravity and reduces weight thereby offsetting the additional weight of the spring forks. The titanium gas tank helps reduce weight, too!
Dave is really excited about the new CRF450R and CRF450RX models. So excited that he thinks either one could be bike of the year. Stay tuned to see if Dave’s prognostication turns out to be correct!

Oakland County ORV Park Moving Forward

Waterford, MI –  The members to Oakland County Parks and Recreation (OCPR) Commission voted unanimously to proceed with the Oakland County ORV Park project. Approximately 300 supporters of the project – motorcyclists, ATV and UTV riders, and full-size four-wheeler enthusiasts – attended the meeting and voiced support for the project.
The Park, which has been in the planning stages for several years, is the result of a partnership between the Michigan Department of Resources (MDNR) and the OCPR. The MDNR has already acquired two parcels – 120 acres and 90 acres - behind the Mt. Holly Ski Area Park and east of I-75 and north of Grange Hall Road in northern Oakland County. They are negotiating with property owners in the area north of Grange Hall Road and west of Dixie Highway to purchase other contiguous properties to increase the size of the Park.
All of those who spoke supported the ORV Park project. Among the arguments in favor of the Park included the economic benefit to the OCPR and MDNR as well as stores, gas stations, campgrounds, restaurants, motels, etc. in the area. Four-wheel-drive enthusiasts were the  majority of those who spoke. They talked about how family oriented their participants are and the significant amount of money they spend on their activity.
The opening of the Oakland County ORV Park is planned for the fall of 2018.
